The 3rd Hong Kong International Flute Competition (hereafter “Competition”) is hosted by Hong Kong Flute Association (hereafter “HKFA”). (Updated on 1 October, 2023)
- Eligibility
- No restrictions on applications regardless of Contestants’ age, gender and nationality. Identity documents issued by the Government such as identity cards or passports must be shown in the video entries for identity and age verification. HKFA reserves the right to disqualify any Contestants who do not match the age requirement in the registered levels. The entry age for each category is as follows:

- Contestants should apply for the Competition levels according to their level of musical competence or ability. We encourage contestants to apply for more than one level as long as their age and musical level match the requirements.
- In all levels where an age requirement is stipulated, the governing date shall be 1 May 2024.
- Students majoring in flute performances, in Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree programmes or above at any music academies or higher education institutions, as well as students of high schools affiliated to a music academy and professional flautists are not eligible to participate in the Amateur (Elementary) Level/ Amateur (Advanced) Level.
- Contestants of Elite Young Flautist Group I/ Elite Young Flautist Group II/ Junior Level/ Intermediate Level/ Senior Level (Parsons Music Prize)/ Young Artist Level (Parsons Music Prize) are not eligible to participate in Amateur (Elementary) Level/ Amateur (Advanced) Level.
- Contestants of Elite Young Flautist Group I/ Elite Young Flautist Group II/ Junior Level/ Intermediate Level/ Senior Level (Parsons Music Prize)/ Young Artist Level (Parsons Music Prize)/ 3rd Hong Kong International Flute Competition Grand Cup/ Amateur (Elementary) Level/ Amateur (Advanced) Level are eligible to participate in solo, duet, quartet and flute choir.
- There is no age limit placed on accompanists. Submission of accompanists’ personal information is not required during application.

- Competition Details
- HKFA reserves the right of final decision in all matters pertaining to the Competition. Any contingent measures taken or any changes made to the Competition will be posted on HKFA’s website and social media platforms.
- All Contestants are deemed to have read and agreed to comply with and be bound by all corresponding terms and conditions once they participate in the Competition. HKFA reserves the right to disqualify any Contestants who fail to comply with these terms and conditions and/ or to pursue any act intended to corrupt the Competition.
- HKFA reserves the right to revise the rules, regulations, awards and Judging Panel without making any advance announcement.
- HKFA reserves the right of the final decision in case of any dispute. HKFA reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and other arrangements without prior notice. In case of any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Competition, the decision of HKFA shall be final and conclusive.
