Hong Kong International Flute Competition

Important Information for Participants

  • All participants must possess a valid travel document.
  • Once registration is confirmed, fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to other competitions.
  • The name provided by the participant must match their valid Hong Kong identity card/travel document.
  • Participants should arrive at the competition venue at the check-in time specified in their email (Flute Competition – Confirmation Email (Shortlisted)). Once the competition begins, judges or staff have the right to refuse entry to any person (including participants).
  • Participants should present an electronic or printed copy of their email (Flute Competition – Confirmation Email (Shortlisted)) during registration. The organisation will verify the identity of participants based on their copy (Flute Competition – Confirmation Email (Shortlisted)). Failure to present any valid identification to staff before the competition will be recorded and may affect the participant’s results. Participants must bring the following documents:
    • Individual/Pair Participants:
      • An electronic or printed copy of the email (Flute Competition – Confirmation Email (Shortlisted));
      • An electronic or printed copy of the email (4th Hong Kong International Flute Competition Final Round Arrangement); and
      • The participant’s valid student ID/student handbook/Hong Kong identity card/travel document, all originals with a recent photograph attached.
      • Original physical sheet music (including sheet music) for the competition repertoire.
    • Group Participants must bring:
      • An electronic or printed copy of the email (4th Hong Kong International Flute Competition Final Round Arrangement); and
      • The representative’s valid student ID/student handbook/Hong Kong identity card/travel document, all originals with a recent photograph attached;
      • Original physical sheet music (including sheet music) for the competition repertoire.
  • All participants must perform with live piano accompaniment. Recordings, MP3s, and other non-physical means of accompaniment are not permitted; otherwise, the participant shall be disqualified for violating the competition rules.
  • Except the accompanist, all contestants are expected to bring their own musical instrument.
  • Participants must be in neat and appropriate attire during their performance.
  • Before the results are announced, no one (including participants, teachers, and parents) except organisation staff may contact the judges. Violators will be asked to leave, and if such a person is a participant, this will be recorded by the organisation and may affect their results. (For inquiries, please consult any staff present.)
  • The All-Access Pass is a pre-purchased pass that grants the holder priority entry to the competition. Due to limited venue capacity, the order of entry will be dynamically adjusted based on the actual situation on the day of the competition. The priority order is as follows:
    • First Priority: Participants for this session and their accompanists
    • Second Priority: All-Access Pass holders
    • Third Priority: Other attendees
    • The organisers will implement crowd control measures based on the number of attendees. No compensation or refund in any form will be provided for those unable to enter.
  • All All-Access Pass purchasers must present a valid electronic or physical purchase record and electronic or physical identification document matching the name used at the time of purchase during the venue check-in hours. This is for staff to verify the purchaser and the quantity ordered. The check-in location and opening hours are as follows:
    • Hong Kong City Hall, High Block, 8th Floor Concert Hall
    • 2 APRIL 2026 – 4 APRIL 2026, 10:00 – 17:00
  • Photography, audio recording, or videotaping of any part of the competition is strictly prohibited within the venue.
    • Violators will be asked to leave. Violators will be recorded by the organisation, and this record may affect their results.
  • The entire competition will be video-recorded by the organisation. All recordings will be used solely for internal archiving and administrative purposes and will not be released to the public. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
  • Participants may tune their instruments before their performance, with a time limit of no more than 10 seconds; otherwise, it will affect the participant’s results.
  • Practice is strictly prohibited in and around the competition venue.
  • Any person (including participants) causing disturbance in any form in the competition venue will be asked to leave immediately. If this person is a participant, this will be recorded by the organisation, and this record may affect the participant’s results.
  • The organisation shall not accept any gifts, favours, or other forms of bribery.
  • The result determined by the jury panel of the organising committee will be deemed final and conclusive.
  • The organisation reserves the right to final decision in case disputes arise.
